At the TotalEnergies AGM, combined roles and converging campaigns
Investors want the separation of chairman and chief executive at TotalEnergies, currently combined in Patrick Pouyanné, put to the 24 May general meeting. The demand also serves to press another: an ambitious climate strategy.
Patrick Pouyanné est un patron à poigne. Un peu trop au goût d’une vingtaine d’investisseurs, qui mènent campagne pour scinder les fonctions du PDG de TotalEnergies. Ils veulent soumettre leur proposition à un vote consultatif des actionnaires à l’assemblée générale du 24 mai. Voilà donc relancé le vieux débat sur la dissociation entre présidence et direction générale. Réputée plus vertueuse, assumée par l’Etat actionnaire dans ses participations, la pratique se généralise sans pour autant être imposée par le code de gouvernance Afep-Medef.
